Student affairs management is a key part of colleges and universities management, it is also an important factor that influence the long-term development of colleges and universities, the quality of student affairs management is a reflection of a college's core-competitiveness. The performance appraisal (PA) is the inherent need for the improvement of student affairs management. The study of PA can definitude the responsibilities and enhance the efficacy of student affairs management, it will also improve the whole level of management worker.Based on the study of education management theory, incentive theory and PA theory, the student affairs management and the PA of Hunan University of Finance and Economics were analyzed in this dissertation. The PA index system of the student affairs management of Hunan University of Finance and Economics was established through questionnaires and expert interview, as considered the cognitional otherness of educators,teachers,counselors and other field staff, this PA index system has 6 general first-lever indexes and 21 material second-level indexes. The cluster analysis of the Group analytic hierarchy process was adapted to gain the weight of index system, at the same time, 200 evaluation forms were put out in the college randomly, experts distribution lists was deducted by tree cluster base on this investigation and the index weight. A compressive judgment for the whole level of the student affairs management of Hunan University of Finance and Economics was presented by the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation at last.The appraisement was conducted from two angles:first, the recognition and general appraisal value of the 6 first-level indexes was deducted; second, the distribution of appraisement of the informant was analyzed based on the degree of comprehensive membership, the comprehensive PA value of the Student affairs management gained from these analyses. The successful experience and shortage of Hunan University of Finance and Economics's student affairs management was analyzed aimed at those low values of the first-level indexes, as a conclusion, some advices were presented to make the student affairs management of Hunan University of Finance and Economics have amazing progress in the future. It shows that the Hunan University of Finance and Economics has a high level of student affairs management, which is also the actual state of the Hunan University of Finance and Economics. The comprehensive membership of ranks of different appraisal level shows statistically normal distribution, which confirmed the rationality and practicability of the PA index system presented in this dissertation.
