The essence of secondary vocational education, of which the fundamental goal is to cultivate students'comprehensive practice abilities and operational skills, is the support of qualified teachers. The quality of practical training largely depends on whether there are enough high-quality mentors of practical training. Therefore, the professional development of practice training mentors is critical.This paper studies the professional development of practical training mentors of secondary vocational education by analyzing the case of Shanghai Da Zhong Industrial School. I conduct my study mainly through literature review, surveys and interviews. This paper is divided into four parts as follows,(1) In the introduction, I would review and analyze the previous researches on professional development of practice training mentors to specify the motivation, method and process of this paper, as well as its implications.(2) The second part delineates several aspects of practice training mentors in secondary vocational education, such as requirements, duties and professional qualities. I would analyze the relevant system of on-the-job training and pros and cons of teachers with dual degrees.(3) The third part introduces the development of the industrial structure in Jia Ding, Shanghai. I conduct a detailed investigation of current situation of practice training in secondary vocational schools in this area through interviews with relevant directors and teachers. Thus, I categorize factors that impede the professional development of practice training mentors of secondary vocational education. (4) In the fourth part, I propose some strategies to promote the professional development of practice training mentors of secondary vocational education based on my researches. (I) The current policy should be improved to help the development; (II) The educational institutions should be adjusted for systemization; (III) The model of regulation by schools should be enhanced to provide a better campus environment; (IV) The rooted thoughts of mentors should be changed, motivating them to realize themselves.
