Participating in ceremonies plays an important role for personal development. In modern society, teaching intellectual knowledge has not been the only part of the education. Instead, more and more focuses have now been put in developing students with good ethics and mental health. Ceremony, with its unique form of expression and function, gradually becomes an essential part of the every-day education.Ceremonial education is even more important for the elementary school students, because of its special education functions. A good ceremony could have the power to drive mental cohesion and heart touching. In China, many elementary schools have started educational programs for various ceremonies. However, the systematic overview of the ceremonial education in elementary school has not yet been described.In the current article, the ceremonial education is discussion with a unique focus on"elementary school". Here, we selected some of the routine activities carried out in C Primary School for the research. In addition, we performed analysis and research in respect to the setting of targets, design of contents, choice of methods, arrangement of approaches, implementation of evaluations and some other aspects.The first chapter is introduction. The brief background of this study, the purpose and significance of the research, the methods and experimental thoughts are introduced. In addition, a brief list of the current research status on this issue is also presented in this chapter.In the second chapter the meanings of"ceremony"and the"ceremonial education"were described in respect of anthropology, sociology, psychology, education, and other points of view. In addition, the significance and the characteristics of ceremonial education in elementary schools are clarified.The third chapter focuses on the current status of the ceremonial education in elementary schools based on the investigation results, some potential issues, such as grade differences, personal differences, are pointed out.The fourth chapter discussed the ways to combine the theory and the practice together. Several constructive suggestions are put forward to improve ceremonial education in elementary schools.By studying the achieved progresses and the existing problems in C Primary School as an example, this article is aimed to reveal some common issues in today's ceremonial education. It is the author's hope that such an approach can improve ceremonial education in elementary schools.
