Changde Sixian, as the unique native musical culture in Hunan, has a long history and profound cultural background. It is a shinning star growing up from Hunan fertile culture soil, and it was recognized as the national intangible culture heritage in2006.Knowing, understanding and valuing native music culture has become the general trend of contemporary national music education development. This essay is based on the analysis of music education in Changde elementary and middle school. By the implementation of Full Time Compulsory Education-Music Courses Standards, Changde Sixian will be taught in music courses in elementary and middle schools. It surely helps the culture heritage and development in Changde, and improves the students’comprehensive quality. Furthermore, it follows the trend of new course reformation.The essay is in four parts. The first part is a general description of Changde Sixian on historical background, development, musical system and uniqueness, as the logical proofs for studying this topic. The second part is studying from the facts of music educational resources, teaching forms in Changde elementary and middle schools to understand the value of introducing Sixian. The third part is about the present condition of native heritage in Changde from the surveys among people and teaching in schools. The forth part is coming up with the idea of introducing Changde Sixian into elementary and middle schools on the necessity and possibility.
