Since 1990s, modern information technologies represented by computer, which have been widely used in education, have brought a series of changes in instructional contents, means, methods, theories, concepts and even in educational pattern or system, and have caused a split in traditional instruction structure. They have played a vital role in promoting the modernization of education and fostering the attainment of information and the consciousness and ability of creation.In order to better know the development of CAI in elementary school, I had done quite a lot of in-depth, painstaking investigations and researches in elementary schools around Changsha. Studies show that some effects of CAI have been obtained, vast majority of schools have positive attitudes toward the development of CAI; that each school has in varying degrees developed CAI; and that in some key elementary schools the development of CAI has begun to take shape, which, to a certain extent, brought a series of changes in instructional method, means andconcepts, etc. However, some problems do exist, for example, development imbalance of CAI ( difference between key schools and ordinary schools), trend of CAI to formalization and simplification; deficiency of teacher's qualities ( especially deficiency in rational knowledge of CAI), the CAI evaluating system being not established and integration system of study in and after school being unformed ; the poor physical environment in class instruction which affects the body and mind health of students.Thus, after transverse and lengthways research and contrast, I will give some suggestions to CAI in Changsha: setting up special fund for the development of instructional technology to strive for bringing CAI to the right path; increasing the proportion of CAI in teacher's training to improve their ability to use CAI; exploiting component library to provide convenient and suitable instructional software for teacher; quickening the transformation from the demonstrative form to the interactive form to establish the integrative instructional system in and after school; building effective evaluating system to standardize CAI development.
