With the extending implement of the new curriculum reform, new educationalconcept and teaching strategy gradually come into the sight of teachers. The teachingthough game methodology itself is not a new idea, and in fact it has been applied inteaching activities since ancient times which has been used in education asa ‘game’ part long time ago. In the current time when ‘student-centered’ teachingprinciple is highly valued, this teaching methodology gets newborn. The teaching-though game methodology stimulates students’ interest and leads students gainingknowledge while playing as well as improving students’ abilities of all aspects.It conforms to the current ‘humanism’ spirit and the requirements of the education ref-orm.This article summarizes the related home and abroad teaching though gametheories after studying all kinds of literatures and does some research on learners andsubjects and, based on which, it goes through the theoretical analysis on teachingthough game design. Combined with teaching design theory and text books,100third grade students at Kunming City Primary School are chosen to be thesubjects in the experiment to design the corresponding game teaching with teachingcontent selectionIt will explore the feasibility of this experiment and provide some re-ferences for others’ research.This article is divided into five parts:The first part mainly introduces the causes, significance and basic theories and methods of this research as well as the home and abroad study situation in this field.The second part gives an introduction to the concept identification of playing andteaching though game.The third part is about instructional design of this methodology.The fourth part focuses on the implement of teaching though game methodologyin the actual primary school English teaching activities.The fifth part presents the conclusion of this research.After3months practice and research during English teaching of primary Grade3,the research analyzes the collected data with questionnaire survey and other methods.The results shows that the teaching though game methodology does improve thestudents’ English achievements, especially arousing the students’ interest in English and mobilizing their enthusiasm in learning English. Though there is still room ofrefinement for many phenomena and points in this paper for limited time to finish it.
