Game is an important mean of English teaching in primary schools.It is a very popular way of language teaching.In order to improve the efficiency of classroom teaching,English teachers often use appropriate games in class according to the teaching objectives.Games bring great vitality to the English teaching,making the students learn by doing,which can strengthen the students' language knowledge and improve the students' ability of using language.Because of the shortage of teachers and limited resources,funny English games became luxury for the pupils in rural primary schools.Based on this,it has great significance to explore the design of English game teaching in rural primary schools to cultivate students' interest in English learning and improve the efficiency of English teaching.The research objects of this thesis are English teachers from 10 rural primary schools in S district.Adopting research methods of questionnaire investigation,interview,observation and case analysis,this thesis tries to investigate game teaching design situation of the rural primary school English teachers in district S in terms of teachers' teaching ability,game teaching order,teaching effect and students'participation,etc.There are three main research questions in the thesis:1.What is the present situation of the game design in rural primary school English teaching?2.What are the elements that affect the English game teaching design in rural primary schools?3.What's the strategies to improve the teachers'game teaching design ability.Research shows that game teaching is helpful to arouse pupils' English learning interest and improve teaching effect.Game teaching in rural primary school English classroom has been widely accepted.The factors influencing the English game teaching design in rural primary schools are:function of the game;organization form of game;time to use the game;teaching objectives;teaching contents;discipline of the teaching and so on.The existing problems in rural primary school English game design are:(1)Teachers are lack of professional knowledge of game teaching design;(2)Teachers are lack of games materials storage;(3)The games used are not innovative;(4)Game teaching are chaos;(5)Students' participation is low;(6)The evaluation of the game is single.Based on the situation,effective strategies to improve the game teaching design are provided such as enlarging the storage of the game resources;combining game with teaching content and teaching aims;maintain a stable game teaching order in class;attaching great importance in students'participation;controlling game teaching time;giving effective reflection in English game teaching and so on.It provides reference for the teachers in game teaching design in this district.
