Playing game is children’s instinct, which is suitable for children’s desire and need. Therefore, game teaching has been being widely applied in primary school English classroom teaching. Game teaching aims to improve positivity of primary school students English by playing game’s fun and playfulness, and it can help primary school students study and consolidate learning, apply and practice language in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere of the game. However, because of the effect of all kinds of factors, some game teaching hasn’t worked well in combining games and teaching. In real game teaching class, there are still some problems that are inevitable and need solving urgently.Based on the real problems, the thesis uses “Activity-based Teaching Thought”、 “Suggestive Teaching Thought” and“ Humanism Thought” on game teaching as paper’s theoretical foundations, the thesis makes a research on primary school English game teaching’s theory and practice. The thesis discourses game teaching’s core concepts and the domestic and foreign literatures by reading historical documents. Combined education teaching practice, the thesis summaries the characteristic and principles of primary school English game teaching. In the meantime, by classroom observation, teachers and students interview, teaching case study and so on, observing D primary school English classes, the thesis analyzes chosen eight typical cases about English game teaching activity and expounds four problems that are very common in primary English game teaching: First, unclear objectives of game teaching, poor using language. Second, passive students in game teaching——repeating and boring game teaching forms. Third, limited participation in game teaching only for excellent students’ enjoying. Four, passive teachers in game teaching——class discipline out of control, disturbed teaching activity. At last, according to these practical problems, the writer makes four suggestions on how to solve exiting problems: Firstly, teachers conduct instructional and language game teaching activity. Secondly, teachers carry out creative game teaching activities and enrich game teaching forms. Thirdly, teachers organize game teaching activities to give more chances and encourage students’ active participation. Lastly, teachers make the regulation by rules of the games. Meanwhile, the writer comes up with the improved methods on chosen eight cases’ problems.
