With the development of reform and opening-up, with the rapid process of urbanization, more and more children of migrant workers follow their parents came to Nanjing to study. Nanjing Education Department responds positively to the national policy. They ensure the children of migrant workers have the same treatment at compulsory education stage in the public schools. It makes education more equitable. But the economic and cultural gap between urban and rural areas cannot be ignored. Now the study about education of children of migrant workers is not enough, especially the study about how to improve their geography learning ability in public junior high school is few. While with the more and more children of migrant workers come to the public junior high school to receive education, this study is more and more important.This study is based on the children of migrant workers from Nanjing NO.8middle school. I use document analysis method, questionnaire method, and case analysis method to understand the situation of children of migrant workers in geography learning ability. Then I analyze the reason of their low geography learning ability from two aspects:individual and family. Following the Geography Curriculum Standard for compulsory education and the students’ cognition characteristic, I set target and make training strategy to improve their geography learning ability. By using this on geography teaching, the geography learning ability of children of migrant workers has improved effectively. My subject has boosted the study of how to improve the geography learning ability of children of migrant workers in public junior high school; has offered method and experience of resolving their low geography learning ability; can help them receive geography education better; makes education more equitable, and promotes educational harmonious development.
