Development is an eternal subject of higher education, faculty development is closely related to the development of colleges and universities. In order to improve the quality of education, first of all, it is significant to promote faculty development of university. Focusing on faculty development in colleges and universities has been an important means of maintaining excellent quality of higher education in the United States. Since1962, the university of Michigan set up the learning and teaching research center, more colleges and universities in the United States established a similar faculty development center. Faculty development center has become one of the main organization forms of American university faculty development, providing professional services for faculty who in different stage and promoting the academic ability of faculty and career development is one of the core functions of junior development center. Not only so, in the institutional arrangement and system construction of junior faculty development, the United States has accumulated rich successful experience."A stone from other hills may serve to polish the jade of this one". Analyzing and studying the actions of junior faculty development in the United States can provide us with some references, mainly in junior faculty development and the construction of faculty development center.There are three parts in this thesis. The first part introduces the measures of junior faculty development in colleges and universities between America and China, including pre-service training and selecting system of faculty, the guarantee conditions of junior faculty development in colleges and universities, specific items of junior faculty development in colleges and universities. The second part analyzes and compares the reason, specific and character of junior faculty development between the two countries. The third part discusses and reflects the problem of junior faculty development in our country, this part tries to understand junior faculty development in the USA in detail and sums up experience of junior faculty development in the USA. It is useful for us to promote junior faculty development in colleges and universities by means of learning the experience from the USA.
