Education is the basis of a state, teacher is the basis of education, and teachers‘ professional ethics is the basis of teacher. University teachers shoulder the historical mission and responsibility of training talents and cultivating successors of the socialist. Therefore it is one of the important measures of strengthening the construction of teacher’s ethics to realize the modernization of education in China.For a long time, some results have been achieved to a certain extent in university teacher’s ethics construction, but in the advent of reform and opening up and social transformation period, university teacher’s ethics construction also encountered many problems in China. Some issues on teachers’ moral behavior still happen, which makes us rethink the ethics construction work and constantly explore new ideas of university teacher’s ethics construction.The United States is not only one of the most developed countries in higher education in the world, but also attaches great importance to construction of university teachers’ professional ethics. In United States, teachers’ professional ethics is known as the teachers’ professional ethics and the most remarkable achievements of American teachers’ professional ethics construction is the <Code of Ethics of the Education Profession> formulated by the national education association. After seven times of adjustment and revision, the <Code of Ethics of the Education Profession> finalized in 1975 and still in use so far. It is the relative mature and scientific of this code of ethics that is followed by the education departments in many regions and countries. This paper tries to study on ethics construction of university teachers in China and the United States from the comparative perspective in order to explore new ways of teacher’s ethics construction in colleges and universities.In this paper, we summarized the history and present situation of teachers‘ ethic construction in both China and United States, and we compared the commonness and differences between them. In the differences part, we compared them in five main factors: guiding ideology, construction subjects, construction methods, system construction, and influence factors. By comparing the construction of teacher‘s ethic between China and United States, we can conclude our advantages and disadvantages, and give some advice to our disadvantages. The main conclusions is described below.The negative influence factors of our teacher‘s ethic construction contain economic level, quality of college teachers, and lack of system construction. The positive influence factors contain the advantage traditional culture, simple population structure etc. For improving the level of teacher’s ethics construction in colleges and universities in China, we advised below:(1) paying more attention in teacher‘s education;(2)constructing a advanced system;(3)combing students, colleges and society to work together for improving teacher‘s ethic.
