Musical material is an important component of music curriculum content of kindergarten, and selection and usage of musical material reflects the choice and implementation of curriculum content. This study aims to understand the factual situation that teachers how to select and use musical material in kindergarten music teaching activities and the related influencing factors, in order to provide a reference to improve musical material selection and usage level for ordinary teachers, especially the novice teachers.The research is carried out by cases study on the case of84musical activities of the national kindergarten music education seminar in2012, and randomly chooses7teachers participating in the activity as the interview objects. The overall situation of teachers’selection and usage of musical material and influencing factors as the breakthrough point, this research analysis the types, features, ways of musical material selection, and strategies and organization forms of usage, as well as three factors from teachers themselves, children and external resources. Comprehensive survey results show that:teachers have more and more opportunities to select musical material of their own choice; the types of musical material are much more abundant; it is more difficult to select than use music; using musical material shows the problem of mode teaching; and lack of external support for teachers’ professional growth.Research suggests that:firstly, teachers should treat various musical materials dialectically, and strive to improve the level of using; rich ways of selection and improve teaching sensitivity. Secondly, management systems should enhance the relevance of training for teachers, and increase teachers training efforts in general; to carry out teaching seminars in kindergarten to enhance team support. Thirdly, education researchers could establish special music resources to provide multicultural musical material; combining teaching and research to develop the local music resources.
