Geographic Information System (GIS) is an information technology which possesses the dual features of geography and computer.Using the GIS collect, storage, manage, calculate,analysis, display and describe the geographic data to meet the needs of users.In recent years, GIS has been widely applied to city, region, resources,environment, transportation, population, housing and other real social field.With the development of information era and the propulsion of the new curriculum reform, GIS education is necessary for middle school students.When the foreign GIS basic education developing like a raging fire, Our country is also explore in this area.However,due to the education system, technology, concept and other reasons,GIS basic education development in China was not comprehensive.In view of the current problems, this paper designed some suitable teaching cases, hoping to contribute in the GIS based education.The article can be divided into four parts, the main contents are as follows.The first part is introduction. The main content included the topic background, significance of this subject, research status and research design. This part is to pave the way for the content and framework of the following.The second part is the method of GIS getting into high-school geography.It introduced the method from the teaching content, teaching concept and teaching methods.The third part is about principles and objectives of designing GIS teaching case.Designing those cases follow certain principles.They include using the high school geography curriculum standard as the basis, making these cases as easy as possible, orienting towards constructive teaching,making the content more typical as far as possible and relying on the cognitive law of student. At the same time,the target of the cases is to enhance the professional quality of teachers and to improve the quality level of the students.The fourth part is the design of GIS teaching cases. Based on the whole grasp of the high school teaching content and Arcview software, this paper designed ten teaching case which are related to high school geography.The fifth part is the summary and reflection. To summarize and reflect the content of the article.
