Textbooks is not only the main basement for teachers to teach but also the most important tool for students to learn knowledge. Therefore, the quality of textbooks written directly related to students’mastery of the knowledge thus affecting the purpose of teaching the achievement of the goals and programs. American history teaching has been at the forefront of world history textbook in which play an important role. Unified, rational arrangement forms such as the California version of the history textbook "The American Journey" for its scientific and ideological unity and adaptability base content and pedagogy requirements of the internal logic of the characteristics of the students and the teacher has won the favor of the United States.My essay takes《The American Journey To World War I》for example and introduces its components in detail. It consists of11parts, including California historical standard guide, the relationship of the California historical standard, revision standard, preview reference, reading skills reference, tools of historian, module content, and appendix. When introducing the components, I analyze and summarize its features on the whole, which has been the great inspiration for Chinese history books.
