Today, the new curriculum reform has much higher requirements for the senior-middle-school teachers. It’s not enough for us to finish basic teaching tasks only. The new curriculum has completely changed the roles of teachers and the ones of students. That is to say, teachers are no longer the controllers of classes and students are no longer always passive in classes. Teachers are transferring to leaders from controllers and students are becoming the main body of a class. The functions of teachers are to set a proper situation to arouse students’learning interest to make students lean by themselves by taking part in the learning activities in a class actively. The writer, based on the lesson’the Opium War’with new teaching methods to reflect the idea of the new curriculum reform to improve teaching efficiency and reach an effective teaching.The essay is divided into three parts:PartⅠ:the teaching value of’the Opium War’in senior history; the position of it in this unit; the connection between textbooks compulsory2and compulsory3.PartⅡ:the comparison between the old edition and the new one.PartⅢ:Based on the above, the author finishes the design of the new teaching case of’the Opium War’ and reflects the whole process.
