Map is a carrier for the expression of the natural and social phenomenon in spatial distribution characteristics; it is often used in conjunction with various forms of charts at the secondary level learning process. It possesses the qualities of image, rich connotation, logical. We can use a variety of chart types cultivate students’ acquisition and interpretation of geographic information ability, the ability of mobilizing and using geography knowledge, the ability of description and explanation, the ability of demonstration and exploration. For students’ geographical knowledge and abilities, it will be more comprehensive. As the most important kinds of measure teaching, the college entrance examination puts forward higher standards for students’ ability of charts application. So it is very meaningful for the research of charts in the papers and it can help us more efficient teaching.The main methods of paper which have been used are literature analysis, comparative studies, case method. Firstly, using the literature analysis it made a systemic analyzing for the domestic and international relevant teaching strategies and teaching strategies in geography. Secondly, using the comparative studies it made a series of statistics for the geographic chart characteristics and trends consist of chart types, the testing contents and skills for the charts, the score of charts in the papers from2007to2013. And it made a comparison for the chart applications about the papers in the different years on the basis of above research. Thirdly, it made a collation and summary for the charts classification, application and the trend of chart types’ using in the recent years paper. Lastly, using case method to formulate corresponding geographic chart teaching scheme to explain how to use the corresponding teaching strategies.On the basis of above research, it draws the following conclusions:(1) It mainly made use of geography schematic, geography statistical charts, area charts and comprehensive charts in the papers from2007to2013. It is more than four chart types in the papers from2007to2013; for the number using, it often applies a graph of questions or a question of charts, almost every question must be answered by charts auxiliary. There are differences in the five chart types between the usage frequency, geography schematic and geography statistical chart were the most frequency, isograms were the minimum; Graphs were investigated47in the middle school geography teaching syllabus’76knowledge points. And the distributing of knowledge points was very equilibrium. Each of the papers were used from easy to difficult gradually progressive for the high school students’ability testing; In recent years, the proportion of the graphs’ score was above78%in the college entrance examination papers and the proportion of the trend was still growing.(2) In the years2007-2013, the chart types of Shandong geography exam papers showed the following changes:the application of isograms showed some fluctuations. Next year, it will show some downward shifts; the score proportion of geography schematic, geography statistical charts and area charts will rise; the score proportion of area charts will continue to maintain the current trend.(3) Based on the above conclusions, it proposed four geographic chart teaching strategies including autonomous learning, self-training, structural assimilation and variant training strategies. Then it developed two correlative teaching schemes to explain the application of the strategies.
