Zith the acceleratcd process of China’s modernization and continuousadjustment and optimization of industrial structure, the demand of society forvocational skill talents including social management persons with ability in themodern service industry presentcs a rapid development situation. In China,with thei’ndustrial structures ajustmenl from the second industry, primary industry and thetertiary industry to "three, two. one" pattern, the demand of some big cities andeconomically developed areas along the southeast coast for highly skilled personnelof liberal arts is strong increasingly, which has become inevitable. Therefore, thedevelopment of vocational education of liberal arts majors has great potential.The "Long-term Education Reform and Development Pl”an (2010-2020) notesthat ‘‘By2020,the modern vocational education system should adapt to the change ofthe pattern of economic development and the requirement of economic structuraladjustment, reflect the concept of lifelong education and the coordinated developmentof secondary and hi’gher vocational education, meet peoples need of attendingvocational education, meet the economic and social need for high-quality workers andskilled personnel.,,The formation of modern vocational education system cannotleave the development of higher vocational education’s liberal atrs majors.So. how to deal with this challenge for vocational colleges to develop artsvocational education has become an issue which cannot be ignored. However,thepractical training aspect plays a key role during the process of cultivating the liberalarts vocational students. The "Several opinions of the Ministry of Education on theoverall improvement of teaching quality of higher vocational edu,cation,also stressesihc need to "highlight the cultivating of practical ability, reform the personneltraininu mode, strengthen the training and practice base construction,,and so on.Therefore, the stud*y of liberal arts students practical training has very importantpractical signiifcance.In this paper, the author ifstly summarizes the characteristics of the liberal arts students’ pratical training in vocational colleges which include continuity,situationaliiv and simulation. Then the author carries on the empirical research.iii-. paper takes the liberal arts majors of3vocational colleges in Shandon’gs accrtain prefecture-level city as the survey object. The author collects qualitative andquantitative data by the method of interviews and questionnaires, and then give thema summary. Through the research, the author found that the main problems of theliberal arts vocational students’ practical training are as follows: the develop oftraining materials exists hysteresis; the construction of training bases is not balanced;the training instructors are inadequate investment; the enthusiasm of enterprises toparticipate in the vocational education is relatively low; their vocational students ownproblems and so on. In view of the existing problems, the article analyzes theeffective factors from the administrative department of education, school andenterprises and the students themselves. Finally, the paper uses the model ofvocational education in some developed countries whose emphasis are the situation ofpractical training for reference. Combined with China’s actual situation, this paperattempts to make some countermeasures and suggestions to improve the situation ofliberal atrs vocational students,practical training which include the administativedepartment of education, higher vocational colleges, cooperative enterprises andstudents themselves.
