As a second language of geography, the map becomes closely related to people’s life. Furthermore, it also develops into a core method of geography research. The graphs-reading ability is making use of geographical chart to obtain knowledge and solving practical problems. It has become a necessary skill of geographical study.On the base of former research on junior student’s ability to learn geography gender difference, the author further explores the problem on different stages by questionnaire and sample analysis. As all the testers are chosen at random from grade one and grade two in junior high school. Studies show that on the whole there are some differences of graphs-reading ability between male and female students of grade one, boys are better than girls, but not obvious; graphs-reading ability of grade two of significant gender differences, boys are better than girls.The author also analyzes the causes of the difference and presents proper teaching proposals according to relative theories of psychology, sociology and pedagogy. This research is beneficial to junior geography teachers. They can improve the quality of the classroom teaching by paying close attention to gender differences of graphs-reading ability and teach according to students’differences.
