Research On Students, Ability Of Reading Map In Geography Teaching Of Junior High School

Maps is one of the most intuitionistic and compendious parts on geography studyand research. Maps must be richly used in teaching process as the most importantfactor. Maps are also indispensable to geography teaching. That’s why maps werecalled “Another form of geography information carrier.”Meanwhile, the skill ofreading and using maps directly influenced the result of geography study of thosestudents. According to the questionnaire survey, we can come to the conclusion that themost difficult part of geography study for junior middle school students was how toread the map correctly. As the result, we selected a lot of teaching examples whichwere closely associated with common teaching experiences, and tried to expound thetheory that how should we raise up the learning efficiency, the imagination, and thepower of observation of junior middle school students in geography new lessonstandard and map study.There are five chapter in the thesis, which discussed many way of researches inhow to helping students using maps in detail. The first chapter was the introduction ofthe theory, which described the background of the research and the way we research onraising on students’ ability of using and reading map in geography teaching of juniorhigh school, as the topic. The second chapter was concentrating on the effect ofstudents’ ability of using and reading map in geography cultivation.The third chapterwas described the questionnaire survey from students and teachers about the difficultyof learning and teaching reading maps. The last chapter expounded the quest of raiseup the interest of geography study to junior high school students, including getting theinformation and knowledge of map under new situation, and finally make studentsbecame fans of map and geography.
