With the continuous development of society,knowledge-based society has posed higher challenges to the quality of talents.Learning to learn and life-long learning have become necessary in contemporary society.The proposed new geography curriculum concepts such as“Learning useful geography for life,learning useful geography for lifelong development” also cater to the needs of this society.To improve the ability of students to use graphs and maps is to practice the concept of the new curriculum,but also to meet the requirements of the development of the times.This paper mainly adopts the methods of questionnaire survey,literature research,statistical analysis,case study and classroom observation.First,we collate and study relevant literature and works both at home and abroad,grasp the current research status and research frontiers,elaborate the research background and research significance of the research,determine the goals and methods of our own research,and scrutinize the research ideas.Study route.Secondly,it defines some basic concepts,core concepts such as “reading ability” and “using graphs”,explains the theoretical basis of the research,and summarizes the research status of junior students' geographic map reading capabilities.Thirdly,through questionnaires of students and teachers' online questionnaires,a survey was conducted on the ability of reading graphs for junior high school students.The analysis found that junior high school students' interest in maps is not strong and their attitudes are not positive,resulting in their learning of maps.The enthusiasm is not high;some junior high school students have unclear grasp of the map elements,the foundation is not solid enough,and the map cannot be used correctly;in addition,most students do not read the map correctly,and do not read the map correctly according to certain reading methods,resulting in information in the map.Insufficient mastery;coupled with the school does not attach importance to some of the geography teacher's own level of teaching and teaching methods and other issues,so that the teacher's effort and the students' ability does not match,resulting in students' ability to read maps is not strong.Fourthly,the following targeted implementation strategies were proposed for the problems found in the survey:(1)From linking life to findingresonance with students;Interesting interpretation,intuitive expression;Finding rules,flexible memory;teaching aids,etc.To start stimulating student interest and mobilize students' enthusiasm for learning geography.(2)From the understanding of map elements,extracting information;clarifying the uses of various maps,etc.,and consolidating students' basics.(3)From the aspects of teaching students how to read pictures correctly,constructing mental maps,and giving full play to multimedia advantages,teachers should be good at guidance and focus on the cultivation of students' abilities.(4)From focusing on graphic and textual integration,graphic and textual transformation,group training,and cooperative inquiry;attempting new teaching methods and teachers to continuously enrich themselves;pointing out that teachers should update their teaching concepts and constantly enrich their teaching methods so as to better The student's geography maps use graphing skills.Fifth,according to the proposed graph drawing training strategy,we designed specific teaching cases and carried out corresponding practical verification and case investigation and analysis in the teaching class.The results showed that the results were good.The main conclusions of this paper are:(1)The ability of geographical map reading for junior high school students is weak and needs to be strengthened;(2)Finding the right entry point and putting forward some practical teaching strategies;(3)Testing the training strategy through teaching practice Effectiveness.The innovation of this paper lies in the combination of the ability to use graphs with maps and the study of geography teaching in junior middle schools.It not only proposes corresponding strategies,but also summarizes map reading methods of various types of maps in combination with their own practical knowledge,and focuses on geography.The test scorers conducted case studies and verified them in practice.Due to the short research time and lack of experience,it is necessary to continuously supplement and improve in the teaching practice in the future.
