Research On The Problem Of Aging Population In China And The Countermeasures

On November15,2013, the “CPC Central Committee on deepening the reform decisions onmajor issues” was adopted by the third Plenary Session of the18th Central Committee of theCommunist Party of China. The decision starts a separate two-child policy, this marks thetwo-child policy will be implemented officially. Behind the policy is the deepening of the agingproblem. The promulgation will have a positive impact on easing the aging problem. With theeconomy development and the technical progress, the aging of the population has become aninternational problem. For the aging of the population, the international division standard is thatthe proportion of the population aged60-year-old and above reaches10percent or the proportionof the population aged65-year-old reaches7percent in the country or the region. The populationaging is an inevitable product when society and economy develops to a certain stage in a countryor a region. The aging population usually appears in the developed countries. In some countriesentering the aging of the population, the economy may relative developed, and the feature isgetting wealthy before becoming old. However, the feature of our country is that we get oldbefore becoming wealthy. Along with the implementation of the family planning policy, the birthrate of our country has fallen sharply and leads to the speeding up of the population agingproblem in our country. On the other hand, with the development of the economy and theimprovement of the medical health system, and the development of the endowment insurancebusiness, the death rate has declined which, to a certain extent, speeds up the process of thepopulation aging in our country. Moreover, the population aging develops unbalance in theregion of our country and presents a transition from east to west of the trend due to theunbalanced regional economic development in our country.Starting from the background of the population aging, and on the basis of analyzing thepresent situation of population aging in our country and referencing related research at home andabroad, the article selects related influencing factors to the aging population in our country. Then,the multiple linear regression analysis between aging population and its influencing factors isfounded by using the data provided by the China Statistical Yearbook and the SPSS statisticalsoftware. We do a series of regression diagnosis on the regression model and draw a conclusionthat the regression model is significant. In the end of the article, we put forward the measuresand suggestion to deal with the problem of population aging according to the results of thestatistical analysis and some related research both at home and abroad.
