Traditional sports project school, was born in the early1980s,Traditional Sports School,namely traditional school,refers to the small and medium-sized schools that carry out traditional sports activities and feature one or two sports items.Basketball as a deep mass movement, a project on the basis of the importance is given to every province in China, the traditional project schools to set up a batch of basketball (hereinafter referred to as the Traditional Basketball Schools).As the primary form of "the three levels of training system"in our China,traditional schools serve as the basic phrase in cultivating sports talents with great culture quality for our country. They aim at strengthening basketball training,improving sports techniques as well as discovering sports talents.which not only can relieve the contradiction between learning and teaching,but also provide talented backups for the superior competitive training system.This paper uses literature data method, questionnaire survey method, mathematical statistics, logic analysis, expert interviews and other methods. Traditional basketball high schools in south Jiangsu concentrate in Nanjing, Changzhou and Suzhou; The development level of these schools is different, Nanjing No.9high school has the strongest comprehensive strength;2. Team players’cultural achievement is in the medium level, relationship between learning and training is reasonable; In order to enter colleges and universities, personal hobby, get into the professional team, the participation purpose is explicit;3. Traditional basketball high schools have a clear division of responsibilities; Fund can guarantee the normal operation; the age structure of coach team is given priority to young and middle-aged, coaching experience is rich. Every school’s training time and training content are different, and the development model is also different;4. The infrastructure is better, can satisfy the need of training; Insufficient:1. The total number of traditional basketball high schools in south Jiangsu is overall less, the distribution is imbalance, some cities lack of traditional basketball high schools.2. Admissions range is not wide; Material selection is still mainly determined by coaches’ experience; Psychological training and sports intellective training is relatively insufficient, less to participate in high level competitions; The way to improve business is less;3. There are less coaches training opportunities; the overall scientific research ability is insufficient.
