The basic idea of high school chemistry curriculum is " based on the students’ needs which is for adapting to modern life and future development" and "developing students’ innovative spirit and practice ability". We could not practice the idea of chemistry course in chemical education without the cultivation of students’ chemical thinking ability. Researching the characteristics of students’thinking quality and discussing the way how to build it would be helpful for teachers to renew the concept of education and build up the idea of human-orientation in the educational field. It is also propitious to improve students’ chemical attainments, develop their ability, as well as to foster and enhance students’ thinking ability.According to the existing literatures, the research on training the thinking quality of senior high school students in the field of chemistry education is inadequate. For this reason, the author used a variety of methods, such as questionnaires, tests, interviews, to research the status of thinking quality of senior high school students as well as the factors that affect students’ thinking quality. The results of the study show that the status of high school students’ thinking quality has the following characteristics:(1)For this moment, senior high school students’ chemical thinking quality lie in low mediate level, The quality of critical thinking and creative thinking development level is relatively low.(2)There is obvious difference between students with different academic record in senior high school in there chemiscal thinking quality development level.(3)The interests in learning chemistry have a significant positive correlation with chemical thinking quality.The author further analyzed the factors that affect senior high school students’ chemical thinking quality, and on this basis, some suggestions are put forward to cultivate students’ chemical thinking quality.(1) Senior high school teachers’ teaching view should be renewed and pay attention to the cultivation of students’ thinking quality.(2)Creat a environment with freedom, equality and openness which is for chemistry teaching.(3)Carry out the activities of chemistry education in problem-solving model.
