With the rapid development of information technology and the growing popularity of the Internet nowadays, more and more forms of modern distance education, which is as a new way of education, have been stepping into people’s life to help them grasp new knowledge and information and improve their ability, level and quality. Our colleges and universities give full play to the advantages of modern distance education such as "open","beyond time","teaching interaction", which offers the opportunity of higher education to more people, greatly drives the process the popular higher education and promotes the formation of learning-society and lifelong educational system. However, there are still many problems with it, for example, teaching model and management model ignoring the leading role of the teacher, and not fully integrating and rationally using multimedia teaching resources. Therefore, renewing conceptions of education and deepening the teaching reforms is the development bottleneck of modern distance education and the key to finding a way out.Blended learning has become one of hot topics in the present International Society of Educational Technology. Blended learning is a kind of teaching strategy to combine different learning theories, techniques with different application ways. It emphasizes the combination of teacher’s leading role and student’s main status, pays attention to the optimal choice of teaching media, manifests the organic combination of traditional teaching and E-Learning display and achieves the reformation of traditional teaching and surpassing the network teaching. The thesis tries to put blended learning theory into Modern Distance Education and put forward implementation strategies of blended learning in Modern Distance Education.The thesis is divided into five parts:The first part, preface. The part analyzes the origin of the application of blended learning in Modern Distance Education, the significance and main contents of the study, research methods and innovation points of paper.The second part, the present situation of modern distance education. The part analyzes and demonstrates the solution to the problems of Modern Distance Education in China from teaching model, teaching management, teaching resources and teaching evaluation.The third part, the summary of blended learning. The part defines blended learning and then explains its theoretical basis and characteristics.The fourth part, the internal relation of blended learning and Modern Distance Education. The part reflects the problems in Modern Distance Education in China at present, and demonstrate the necessity and feasibility of blended learning.The fifth part, implementation strategies of blended learning in Modern Distance Education. Based on the current situation of Modern Distance Education, the part puts forward implementation strategies of blended learning in Modern Distance Education to structure the teaching model, teaching management model, and teaching resource integration model, which combine network teaching with traditional teaching, and form the teaching evaluation system of blended teaching.
