Classroom teaching is an important part of school education. As a new teaching model, flipped classroom is popular in US now and was brought into Chinese basic education in2011。 The traditional teaching process is inverted mainly through the modern education media in the flipped classroom model, in which students learn new content online by watching video lectures, usually at home, and what used to be homework (assigned problems) is now done in class with teachers offering more personalized guidance and interaction with students, instead of lecturing. Flipped classroom model brings probability for personalized teaching in traditional classroom. What is the flipped classroom? How to flip the class? What are differences between the US and China? How to form our special flipped model on the basis of the reference? Considering these questions, this paper has the flipped classroom model from a comparative perspective in order to find out the problems and offer some corresponding suggestions to our practice.This paper consists of five parts:The first chapter:introduction. First elaborates the reason of selecting this topic, the related theory and the practice significance, then reviews the related researches of home and abroad, and finally explains methods and the innovation and the deficiency of this research.The second chapter:flipped classroom model overview. Firstly, the author reviews the development of flipped classroom; secondly, explores the concept of the flipped classroom and definite the connotations, that is a classroom learning model to promote students’ deep learning, in which the course content is taught through online education system before class, and students can control their own time, place and progress; internalization process (discussion, collaboration, personalized guidance and independent thinking) is flipped into the class; and then study the theoretical basis of the model and they are learning theory foundation, teaching theory foundation, methodology foundation and communication theory foundation; finally summarizes the characteristics of the flipped classroom from four aspects:teaching process, the role of teachers and students, teaching resources and learning evaluation.The third chapter:the practical case of the flipped classroom model in US and China. This is the empirical part of this paper and describes two flipped classroom cases of the middle schools (American Woodland Park High School and Chongqing Jukui middle school in China). This paper introduces the practice of American Woodland Park high school from three main aspects:first, the inquiry of origin, why did Woodland Park High School want to flip their classroom; second, the real scene of flipped classroom, how is the flipped classroom in Woodland Park high school carried out; finally, the advantage of "flip", which summaries the advantage of flipped classroom model from teachers in Woodland Park high school. This paper also introduces the practice of Chongqing Jukui middle school from three main aspects:first, the introduction of this school, to understand the basic situation of the school and campus culture can help us to understand the reform practice of the school; then, the real scene of flipped classroom, including the exploration road and the flipped classroom implementation steps; finally, the "voice" of practitioners from principal, teachers and students.The fourth chapter:comparative analysis of Sino US flipped classroom practice cases. This is the core part of this thesis. This chapter analyses these cases from the five dimensions:the teaching idea, teaching environment, teaching videos, teaching structure and evaluation methods.The fifth chapter:conclusion. This chapter is the summary. First, two revelations of the flipped classroom model:(1) the beauty of "balance":"virtual and reality" creates independent learning environment;(2)"process innovation":technology promotes personalized education. Finally, this paper puts forward some advices to our flipped classroom practice, referring to the teachers, students, teaching videos and learning management system.
