Existing studies pay more attention to how social capital affects other social phenomenon, this study attempts to examine how social capital derivative and changing. Unlike some research only concerned about the personal background of the individual-level or grand historical narrative, this paper focus on how the economic inequality of the provincial level and the characteristics of the individual level influenced individual social capital. The results represent that structured social capital is closely related with the personal background, but has little effect on provincial-level economic inequality. Little relationship between cognitive social capital and individual characteristics, which generally supports previous studies, but the level of education has a significant impact. Economic inequality of provincial-level has a significant negative effect on the cognitive social capital, the opportunity of mobility, to some extent, alleviate the negative impact of economic inequality. Relationship path plays an important role.
