The thesis selects Netherlands as the foreign case of interdisciplinary platform evaluation model studying, finding that it has four characteristics which are different from traditional evaluation model:emphasizing the quality of scientific research and graduate training, applied contribution, flexibility and the participate of third-party organization. Compare with Netherlands universities’ interdisciplinary platform evaluation model, we find that interdisciplinary platform evaluation models used in domestic universities have following problems:the evaluation objectives are not long-term based; the evaluation criteria are inadequate; and the evaluation subject is instable. The thesis suggested domestic universities to improve the interdisciplinary platform evaluation mode through efforts in four aspects of, which are making the evaluation objectives clearer and development-oriented; improving the evaluation criteria; tracking the evaluation experts, building experts’ pool; paying attention to the follow-up evaluation. When came to the study of interdisciplinary faculty evaluation model, the thesis takes three comparative successful interdisciplinary faculty evaluation model in U.S. research-intensive universities as examples, which are Contract Performing Evaluation in Michigan University, Goal-based Evaluation in Penn State University and Conflated Evaluation in Wisconsin University Madison Campus. Based on the educational evaluation theories, this thesis studies these three models from the evaluation subjective, evaluation objects, evaluation criteria and evaluation methods. We find that these three evaluation models have certain characteristics in common: first, they all follow the principles of evaluation mode matching the form of appointment; second, the evaluation models show a great respect for faculty. Going back to domestic practice, the thesis takes the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences of A University as an example to explore practices such as faculty evaluation criteria, faculty evaluation process and etc. We find that interdisciplinary faculty evaluation models used in domestic universities have following problems:the evaluation criteria are inadequate, the evaluation experts are instable, lacking consensuses among evaluation subjects and so on. The thesis suggested domestic universities to improve interdisciplinary faculty evaluation model by adopting CIPP evaluation model to achieve a comprehensive and objective evaluation of interdisciplinary faculty. In the end, this thesis suggests, in order to effectively promote the evaluation of interdisciplinary, fist we should re-examine the academic values, enhancing scholars creativity, and promoting the conversion of achievements in scientific research into productivity. Secondly, we must balance the academic and administrative authority. The interdisciplinary platforms need more autonomy, stimulating they actively participant in the evaluation instead of being struggling with it, so that we can establish a more reasonable evaluation model which comprise of internal and external evaluation, as well as the mid-term and long-term evaluation.
