Research About The Organization And Management Of Interdisciplinary Project Of University In China

As the remarkable characteristic and the main driving force of present development in science and technology, the interdisciplinary research demonstrates great effectiveness and infinite vitality in meeting the state strategic demands of science and the demands of local social and economic development. Comparatively speaking, covering a wide range of disciplines and recruiting various talents of science and technology, universities play a significant role in interdisciplinary research. However, it has been found that poor organization and administration led to low quality of completion, the project objectives could not be achieved under some circumstances, which resulted adverse consequences. Therefore, how to deal with the organization and management of interdisciplinary projects and how to convert the advantage of disciplines and talents into the real superiority become serious and urgent issues.The organization and administration of interdisciplinary research in universities is bound to involve disciplines and its division, interdisciplinary and its structure, interdisciplinary research and its projects, disciplines and academic settings in China, concepts and theories concerning project and its administration. In that case, the characteristics and structure of interdisciplinary research and their relationship with interdisciplinary project could be analyzed in a macro way.In the organization of interdisciplinary project in universities, the advantage of disciplines and talents should be exerted and the elaborate organization must be based on scientific approach. The features of interdisciplinary project and the difficulties of its organization determine the specialty. The establishment and application of a three-dimensional model provide an effective way for project organization. With the help of this significant and instructive model, the connotation of discipline can be explained; the group forming, task division and budget distribution can be analyzed; a comparatively scientific system of organization and administration can be shaped.Because of its feature, the project should not be administrated in normal way. On condition that both the internal and external environment of the project are not changed, the administration should be maximally based on matured method and relative knowledge of general project. The application of Critical Success Factor Method will greatly improve the efficiency of administration. The six Critical Success Factors (CSF) and their Key Performance Index (KPI) provide administration with guidance. The preliminary plan about monitoring the administration according to CSF has already been put forward. Meanwhile, a specific path for applying CSF in administration has been provided.Every activity must be carried out under a certain environment, and there is no exception for interdisciplinary project. According to the features of interdisciplinary project and the influence from environment, we could divide the environment into three levels. The project is located in the center and surrounded by macroscopic, centralscopic and microscopic environment. The function of level differs as their content varies. From the prospective of promoting the development of interdisciplinary research and project in universities, several suggestions about reinforcing environmental construction are proposed in the present study.The evaluation of interdisciplinary project is both the main content and key method in its administration. By reference to general project, it could be divided into pre-evaluation, while-evaluation and post-evaluation, of which the content and key vary at different stage. Before implementing the project, the access should be pre-evaluated. In the process of the project, the development evaluation index system should be set up. When the project finishes, the achievement and content of the project should be post-evaluated.The theoretical achievements of Public Administration, System Engineering and Management Science are applied in the research of organization and administration of interdisciplinary project in universities. As a good reference, the systematic research provides staff concerning the organization and administration with new theories and methods.
