As the progress of modern research, modern basketball sports are movingtowards the orientation of attaching more importance in velocity and power resistance.Only the basketball players who are endowed with stronger power and more rapidspeed can acquire stronger counter force. Thus power training attracts the attention ofmost physical coach. Core training concept is earliest introduced and applied tomedical rehabilitation domain. However, in recent years, more and more coaches atboth home and abroad recognize that core strength training enjoys more advantagesthan traditional strength training. And no matter what kind of physical exercise thecore strength training put into use, it will play a better role than traditional strengthtraining does. In particular, as for modern basketball sports, the facts of diversifiedtechnique and tactics, quick shift between offense and defense, more and moreobvious counter force as well as changeable match court, demand the athletessuccessively facing different defense style and strength, along with shaping rationaltechnical movement to complete attack with the prompt combination of self athleticskills. Considering that, basketball players are not only required to possessoutstanding strength quality, but be equipped with favorable and basic core strength aswell. Some developed provinces and cities in China have put the core strength trainingmethod into use, nevertheless, the method still fails to be fully played and explored inmost colleges, universities and sports team in Yunnan Province. Based on a largequantity of literature and data concerning to core strength training referred to by thewriter, along with interviewing several experts in the colleges for obtain theirsuggestions, the writer proposes to complete this essay via applying partial corestrength training method to train the strength of male basketball players of YunnanNormal University. The essay mainly utilizes such research methodologies asliterature and data collection, expert interview, experimentation, mathematicalstatistics, logical analysis, inviting20members from the male basketball team ofYunnan Normal University, classifying them into two groups (experimental group andcomparison group) at random. Core strength training method is adopted forexperimental group, whereas traditional strength training method for comparisongroup. Prior to the experiment, the following eight indexes are tested includinggripping strength, back strength, bend arm hang, standing broad jump, verticaljumping in situ, pull-up, arms extension on parallel bars, as well as sit-ups in oneminutes. The test result displays no distinct difference of each index between twogroups. After that, a ten-week experiment is to be carried out for all study subjects ofabove two groups. The experiment concludes as follows:First, both core strength training method and traditional strength training methodhave a certain effect on improving the basketball players’ performance includinggripping strength, back strength, bend arm hang, standing broad jump, verticaljumping in situ, pull-up, arms extension on parallel bars, as well as sit-ups in oneminutes, with the specific embodiment on improvement of their performance to a certain extent.Second, by comparing core strength training method with traditional strengthtraining method, the former method enjoys more remarkable result on upgrading theabove-mentioned eight indexes of the basketball players than what the latter one does, especially on upgrading the gripping strength, back strength and vertical jumping insitu.Third, it is found that core strength training enables to effectively boost themuscular strength of the tiny muscles in core body parts for players. By means ofenhancing the strength quality of basketball players, the players can rapidly grasp thetechnique during the process of training so that they can better play their role in thematch.
