Abstract/Summary:
A good education is that it can fully satisfy needs for its people, so are theschool regulations. There is a question whether these school regulations areteacher-oriented to offer convenience to management or students-oriented to helptheir growth.The original purposes of formulating school regulations are to adjustrelationship between students and teachers, to stipulate behaviors of teachers andstudents, to establish standards, to reflect respect, to promote the spread of knowledgeand to help to accomplish the process of cultivating students. Education should not bea detached process as well as teachers and their students should enjoy a mutual trustrelationship from the view of education relations. However, some bitter realities andcases show that this mutual trust relationship is being destructed. Education is aprocess in which materials were put and civilization was acquired. In westernscountries, senior high school education is a supportability undertaking rather than anindustry. In China, it is difficult to reflect some basic principles in our education likeequality, freedom, respect, democracy for the following reasons: the large population,the low social productivity, the insufficient education input(less than4%inputofGDP), the deficient education resources and imbalanced allocation, the utilitarianismof education because of fierce competition in various religions in China, thedeep-rooted sense of hierarchy in thousands of years’ history of China and the idea ofsuperiority of leaders and parents. Our current education pays more attention toauthority rather than scholarship, which leads to a situation where culture is moreimportant than skills, inheritance more important than innovation. This kind ofsituation also forces our education to narrow its scope into exam—oriented education.This long-term exam—oriented education not only does great harm to students butimprisons minds of teachers, which forces our teachers just to chase high scores inexaminations instead of integrated development of students. With these reasons, therelations of teachers and students turn to be single, indifferent and contradictory. Thephenomenon is common that teachers become rulers and students the ruled. Schoolsand teachers have to formulate harsh school regulations to maintain this dynamic stability. At the same time, with constant problems in regulating students, schools andteachers have to add more unfair, undemocratic and unreasonable regulations, whichon the contrary cause instabilities during the management. Facing these high-voltagepower cables, some students hide their anger in their inner minds and are unwilling toaccept and follow these school regulations from their hearts, which forms anembarrassing educational situation in which students love their study but not theirschools they study. What’s worse, some schools even take some drastic measures likephysical punishment, abuse, arbitrariness. In order to express conflicts anddissatisfaction between teachers and students, some students choose to provoke andrebel against school’s regulations and it leads to unstable and unhealthy psychologicalstates as well as unhappy secondary education.Nothing can be accomplished without norms and standards. What should be keypoints in the management? What reasonable regulations should we adopt? How tocarry out these regulations? What scales should we hold? These are questions weshould consider. With a variety of disordered and shocking school regulations, I hopeI can comprehensively comb the school regulations in theory and by practicing makesome explorations in this field in this education reform in this period. I hope my essaycould help to alleviate and eliminate contradictories among schools, teachers andstudents. By researching essence of school regulations, historical origin, presentsituation of school regulations, aspects of improvements in school regulations. I hopeto change some process to realize innovative and overall growth of students. Oureducation needs harmony. Let us establish more consistence and decrease conflictsfor education!
