Plays are children’s life, toys are children’s partners. With the deep development of pre-education reform, at the moment, kindergarten’s curriculums pay more attention on children’s autonomy choice and individual learning. Commercial toys with single level and simple structure are difficult meet the needs of children’s plays. So teachers in kindergartens have to provide more and diversification toys for every child. This paper based on the present situation of teacher-made toys & teaching material in kindergarten, do investigations or some kindergartens in Shenyang city. In order to provide the basis to the relevant departments put forward education proposals.This study based on the overview of existed toys & teaching material researches, doing investigations of the toys & teaching material concept of kindergarten teachers in Shenyang city, the making status of self- made toys & teaching material of kindergarten teachers in Shenyang city, the using status of self-made toys & teaching material of kindergarten teachers in Shenyang city by interview, nature observation and questionnaire. It was clear that:Most preschool teachers in Shenyang city have no clear concept for self-made toys & teaching material and can’t make a scientific classifying; most kindergartens didn’t provide chances for teachers making toys & teaching material in the collective. Most teachers make toys & teaching material alone, some with others’help. Just a little part of teachers makes toys & teaching material in the collective. Preschool teachers making toys & teaching material is a low efficiency and lack of experience. The toys & teaching material which spent lots of energy didn’t have a good effect. Toys & learning material made by teachers were more than which were directly input in children’s activity areas of kindergartens, which was significant in children 5-6 and children 4-5. The using efficiency of self-make toys & teaching material is very low. Most of them are poor quality, easy to damage and single function.For the results, the researcher suggests that kindergartens should make the conditions for teachers to make toys & teaching material. For example, organize teachers learning toys & teaching material making theory comprehensibly; give teachers some decision-making power of buying toys & learning material; improve the efficiency of teachers to make toys & teaching material; provide chances for teachers to visit, learning and training; at last, establishing discussing apartment. At the same time, pre-school teachers should provide chances for children making toys & teaching material together and try to improve self quality in development and making toys & teaching material.
