The children are accompanied by toys to spend a wonderful childhood which areacted as tools to develop children’s intelligence and to promote their learning andhealthy development. So toys are not only children’s best friends, but also theirteachers, and toys are very important to children’s development. Just like Mr Lu Xunsaid:“The game is the work of young children while the toy is as important as anangel for children.”The author has been trying to access to the network and literature data to findany paper on toys research, but to author’s disappointment there are very rareresearches and articles on toys whatever domestic or foreign, especially on educationof toys to children which appears to be quite weak. Thus, importance of toys forchildren, especially the important role toys played in pre-school children does notarouse people’s great attention. Therefore, I choose Shanghai to conduct a case studyto achieve a further understanding of the current situation of the children’s toys. Bysurveying toys sellers, pre-school teachers and parents related, moreover,investigating the toy store.The conclusion of the thesis is: on the one hand, the production of China’s owntoys are concerned to be low quality and the design of toys lacking of China’scharacteristics, on the other hand, from the use of toys in terms of teaching, teachersare confused about how to use toys to teach children while parents are lacking ofspecific knowledge of toys. So toys fail to really play its important role in theprocess of promotion of children’s health growth. Based on the research result, thethesis provides related advises to designers and manufacturers of children toys,teachers of kindergarten and infants’ parents. In short, through a variety of surveysand studies, the author is trying to call for toy manufacturers, designers, thekindergarten teachers and children’s parents should pay more attention to the role oftoys in children’s development and its important education effects to children. Wehope that toys can play a more important role to promote their healthy growth.
