In the new round of basic education curriculum reform, curriculum resources are highly valued. C urriculum resource is an integral part of the life science course, and it also can implement the overall goal of life science. With innovation of curriculum ideas, curriculum resources become more and more. Local resource is an important part of the life science resource. The local resources used in life science can guide students to learn independently, cooperatively, and to explore. This function conforms to the objectives of the new curriculum reform. Local resources can inspire students their love of home and motherland. Because local resources for the life science are so important, this thesis will study on using local resources for life science in junior high schools.This paper is committed to studying the use of local resources in the life science. Methods used are literature, questionnaire and case analysis to study. Through literature research, information related to loc al resources is collected to analyze the current status of local education. Q uestionnaires are used to find specific problems. With C hongming County, for example, this paper studies the use of current research status of local resources in life science in junior high schools. Survey results show that high school students are interested in life science lesson associated with the production and living, so use of local resources in junior high school life science has educational value. Many biology teachers affirm the status and role of local resources in the life sciences in junior high school, and they are willingness to use and explore local resources. But teachers have difficulties for combining teaching content with local resources. By case analysis, two classic local resources case used in junior high school life sciences, and combined with personal teaching practice, summarize and generalize characteristics of local resources in teaching and the educational value.In order to summarize the characteristics of local resources in teaching, this paper combines two classic cases with practical teaching experience, and research of the relevant literature to study. Local resources in teaching need to focus on four aspects: teaching objectives, situational problems, application of task and holistic teaching process. Through the use of local resources in teaching, students can enhance their feelings and active participation, and also stimulate their self- initiative. The study of local resources will become indispensable part of life sciences in junior high schools, and also provide a reference value of local resources to teachers. Therefore, the paper can offer the use of local resources in other disciplines some reference and inspiration.
