Cognition And Choice Of Ethical Dilemma Of Local Social Work

The goal of Social Work is to help others, and also attaches great importance to the value of life and humanitarian.With the development of specialization of social work, Social work ethics is also in constant development and improvement. The progress of local social work needs the support of social work ethics theories, and promote social work international connection is also inseparable from the reflection of local social work ethics. This study was to understand the local social workers perception of ethical dilemma situation in practical work, the relevant factors affecting their judgement, find out the basic steps and the decision process of their practice when the social worker is facing ethical issues, so as to enhance social workers’ ability to make the ethical decision, improve the quality and effectiveness of their decision and remind the self-discipline and ethical behavior of social workers.In this paper, we use the mixed-research method, in the form of questionnaires and focus group interviews, trying to find out, as to these social workers in Shanghai, their perception of ethical dilemma and analysis their ethical decision-making. According to the results, we found that in terms of the perception of ethical dilemmas, the social workers in Shanghai generally have a high standard; Different individual background and different organization affect social workers to their perception degree of ethical dilemma; The education and training of social work ethics need to be strengthened and improved. In terms of ethical decisions, local situation of social workers in the process of ethical decision-making according to the main principles in priority order can be divided into: the minimum damage of the client; defend the privacy and the autonomy of the client; laws and institutions mission priority principle; the local interpersonal interaction mode.In the end of this study, we try to make some suggestion. On a personal level, improving the education and training of social workers’ ethics; In terms of organization, building good institutional ethical atmosphere environment; as to the industry system, establishing the industry association of ethics.
