A Case Study Of Social Worker's Ethical Decision-making

Social work is a professional activity regulated by professional ethics,and the Identification and disposal of ethical dilemma is an important part of the ethical standards of social work.Social workers are usually required to obey and implement the code of ethics in all aspects of services and other professional activities.Western social workers have reached a basic understanding of the code of professional ethics,and there is a clear text summary.However,even in the western situation,there is a certain difference and distance between text and practical reality.Therefore,the recognition,description,and analysis of “differences and distances”and“different modes”in the local context have become a basic issue in the “localization”of social work,and their theoretical and practical significance is not to be forgotten.This article is part of this important research topic.Qualitative research is used in this study,and the method of collecting data are interview method and participation observation method.There are two sources of information.On the one hand,it is the experience of the 2017 Summer Youth Development Work Center(a pseudonym)of the Guangzhou City Youth Development Center.On the other hand,interviews were conducted with nine full-time social workers of the agency's Bei Cheng Social Work Station.The focus of this study is the“practical operation process”of social workers.This article will discuss the three ethical dilemmas encountered by social workers: Favor Dilemma,Power Dilemma,Interest Dilemma.Through the case analysis of the Ethical Decision-Making process of social workers in practical work,it is to explore the attitudes and ways of dealing with ethical problems by social workers in the present practical situation.To explore some of the social worker's performance choices in the Ethical Decision-Making process,including how to analyze the ethical issues,how to judge the nature of ethical issues and how to solve them.This study also attempts to summarize the practical experience of social workers and finally finds out a set of ethical choice models and guiding principles that are suitable for the present,enriching the research horizon of social work ethics in China.It also hopes to provide technical references for social workers to solve ethical problems.At the end of this paper,the author sorted out the common problems existing in practical workers,and gave corresponding suggestions,hoping to promote the professionalization of social work in China.
