The Moral Education Course is a compulsory course taken during junior high school, which puts more focus on helping students gain good moral character. The moral character of new curriculum standard state that we should cultivate students to cherish and respect their life. Meanwhile, the textbooks are seen as the carrier of knowledge and the focus of school education, which occupies an important position in the education of primary and secondary schools. The development and improvement of life education content in textbooks can promote the realization of course objectives.The paper is divided into four parts:The first part introduces the research background of the life education content in junior high school’s textbook. By carding the research achievements of previous life education content, we can define the concept of life education, life education content, and state the significance of this thesis, provide a theoretical basis for the next study of life education content.The second part illustrates the basis of life education content in the textbook. Several ideas should be taken into account, such as the requirements of era, the requirements of curriculum standards, and the requirements of students.The third part combs the life education content in textbooks of Shanghai version, analyzing the characteristics of content presence in the textbook and putting forward the deficiencies in the textbook.Based on the deficiencies which we’ve discussed in the third part, the fourth part illustrates the improvement methods. The textbook writers should consider integrity, systematic and extensibility.
