As required by the development need of the 21st century, when making the strategic plan for Basic Education, our nation has placed moral education at a position of paramount importance. The "Action Plan of Education Revival for the 21st Century" issued by the Ministry of Education requires the schools "to develop students with good morality, mental health and of high thinking by strengthening and improving the moral education work, continuing the education for patriotism, law-abiding behavior and social morality, conducting education on Chinese traditional culture and revolutionary tradition, and implementing training on labor skills and mental health." With the ardent promotion on moral education program for the youth generation, the 21st century shall no doubt become the century of moral revival.Moral education program is the fundamental route to develop young people's morality, to help young people resist the negative influence from all kinds of moral hazard. It has significant importance on building up personal characters and individual social functions. Moral education textbooks are important vehicles of the education program. Textbooks at the junior high school level are written under the guidance of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of Three Represents, well combining the particularity of science and time, knowledge and education, theory and practice, so that students are led to gradually improve their skills on observation and analysis and ability in participating in social activities, to develop a correct outlook on world, life and value and to lay a solid foundation for their future development to be self-supportive and independent. As the most important tools of daily lecturing, conducting overall research and analysis on moral education content in the textbooks for junior high school level is of particular importance for any teacher of this subject.This essay begins with detailed analysis over the collected reference materials, and then conduct research based on the 2007 version of "Moral Education" (8 volumes for Grade Six to Grade Nine). The major content includes:firstly categorizing relevant materials of moral education in different textbooks and evaluating its percentage among the entire textbook content by using various charts; secondly summarizing the characteristics of moral education presented in the textbooks at junior high school levels, e.g. content selection, subject category, case study etc; and finally making suggestions on education style, content and structure based on the previous study of moral education program.
