A Study On The Expectation Of Counselors' Role In The New Situation

The 18 th CPC National Congress had clearly proposed that strengthening morality education must be the basic of the education,which improved the importance of the ideological and political education.With the development of economic globalization and informationization,the multicultural pattern has been formed, has also brought a far-reaching impact on the formation of university students’ values.In the new social environment, the characteristics of students has undergone a major change.It increased the difficulty of the ideological and political education.As the first implementation of College Ideological and political education,the counselor play an important role in it.In the process of the counselor occupation design to professional and specialization,the most important thing is to clarify the responsibility of the counselor.The students have the closest relationship with the counselor.So the expectation from the students can help to explore the function of the counselor.Clearing the students’ expectation to the counselor,which can give the counselor a right direction and have a self-improvement,especially provide school administrators the way to recruit and manage the counselor.All these are emphasizing the student-oriented idea.My research is based on the role theory in the sociology.I made the normal students of the Shanghai S University as my research object.With the help of the questionnaire and the interview,I can know the expectation from the students.First,I got some ideas from the experts from this field.And then I made the questionnaire.The questionnaire includes four dimensions.Such as the expectation of the counselors’ knowledge and ability, image and characteristics,work content and job expectations,working methods and skills.After the reliability and validity test,I distributed 1368 students to finish the questionnaire.I found that thestudents’ expectation to the counselor was the same to the reality in a great measure.The students paid more attention to the counselors’ psychology education skills and less to the education in the Internet.The normal students and the ordinary students have something same,but the expectation of image and characteristics,working methods and skills.The students own different gender、major、grade and place of birth had different expectation in different ways.So I made some suggestions to perfect the counselors’ management.For the director department of the students work,they should recruit strictly and create a good environment to the counselor.For the counselors themselves,they should up their own professional quality and improve the working skills.The most important thing was that they should work according to the normal students special ideological,so as to exert the best effect of ideological and political education.
