With the development of curriculum reform, teacher burnout has become a prominent issue in the area of education. Teacher burnout can seriously affect teachers’ working conditions and performance. In the long run teacher burnout not only affects the quality of education and stable development of schools, furthermore, the issue of teacher burnout also hinders curriculum reform and even the healthy development of education. In the investigation, the method of cohort random sampling is adopted and the questionnaire survey is conducted among the teachers in the two complete high schools in Shangzhi town to probe into the causes of teacher burnout. Combined with the surveys on teachers’ job satisfaction and job stress, the cause of teacher burnout is explored. The results of the investigation indicates:the whole situation of teacher burnout is not so serious and the degree of teacher burnout is not high. Teachers’ pressure is mainly from students, school or organizational administration, professional features and professional development. Combined with the investigation on teacher burnout in Shangzhi town, countermeasures and suggestions to prevent and overcome teacher burnout are provided from the perspective of educational management.
