As an important part of Chinese higher education system and vocationaleducation system, higher vocational education cultivates lots of talents withprofessional skills, and plays an important role in promoting social progress and rapiddevelopment of economy. However, higher standards and more requirements forworkers appeared because of the more and more intensive employment situation.Workers in many posts are required to have a healthy body and good adaptabilityexpect for skills. Therefore, students shall not only have firm knowledge, professionalskills and operational skills, but also have good physical fitness to be qualified for thejob.As the basis of other sports, track and field athletics are the most basic itemsamong school PE class, which can effectively and completely improve students’physical qualities. Track and field teaching will influence the development ofstudents’ physical qualities directly, especially that physical fitness of students aredecreasing now, and physical quality indexes of them such as explosiveness, strengthand endurance are sharply decreasing. Students are hard to threw themselves to workor even find a satisfied job without good physical quality. So schools should use theitem advantages of track and field teaching to carry out teaching actively andprudently to actually make track and field teaching the priority among priorities.This thesis makes surveys on the current situation of eight higher vocationalcolleges in Jinan by research methods such as documentation, questionnaire,mathematical statistics and experimentation, and carries out group experiments ontrack and field teaching combined the advantageous condition of being an intern inShandong Electronic Profession Tec College. The results show that situations in trackand field teaching in current higher vocational colleges are negative, for example,class hours are inadequate, teaching contents are out of date, teaching methods areconventional and sport equipment can not meet the requirements of students, whichresults in students’ uninterested in track and field sports, and affects teachers’ enthusiasm. All of them are obstacles of hindering the development of track and fieldsports. By statistic analysis of physical quality indexes before and after the experiment,it is found that according to track and field teaching content of experimental group ofboys and girls speed, strength, endurance quality scores are significantly higher thanbefore the trial, has the extremely significant difference (P <0.01). Experimental boyflexible quality is a slight increase before the trial, but not statistically significant (P>0.05); Experimental group girl is obviously enhanced flexibility quality is before thetrial, and have significant difference (P <0.05); As well as basketball teaching contentof the control group, the physical qualities have different degree after the experiment,only the boy ran50meters, boys and girls standing long jump, pull-ups the boys andgirls and boys Flexibility quality test scores have statistical significance (P <0.05).The data of experiments can clearly and visually reflect track and filed sports’influence on students’ physical quality, and then solutions to promote the lastingdevelopment of track and field teaching in higher vocational colleges in Jinan can beproposed accordingly.Solutions:1. To properly realize the functions and values of track and field sports2. Adjusting teaching plan to increase class hours of track and field classes3. Reforming the conventional track and field teaching method and findingnew methods4. Increasing investment to improve teaching conditions of track and fieldsports5. Enhancing construction of group of teachers and improving professionalskills of teachers.
