The only child group has been growing since 1970s, when the country began to put into effect of the family planning policy. The education of this group has therefore become the main subject we are faced, because children in China have relatively fewer companions and chances of simbling-like communication, which requires new model of education. Mixed age education can broaden social circles of pupils by allowing them to play and study with partners of different ages.In this process, they can develop necessary attitude and skills of communication, learn to take care of others and share with others, form the consciousness of modesty and comity, take turns to organize activities and cooperate to complete tasks; they can also learn to be sympathetic, magnanimous and helpful, which will lay a firm foundation for the healthy growth of the pupils.Characteristic curriculum action research of mixed age education in the primary school is based on the theories of Constructivism and Zone of Proximal Development. In the medium and small-sized primary schools, practical exploration on the construction of courses through organizing temporary mixed age classes and under the guide of mixed age educational idea can exploit possible human and material resources. They can develop culture and curriculum system of mixed age educational characteristic; they can fulfil the management and evaluation method through characteristic curriculums and practice; they can also cultivate the awareness of team work and peer group of the pupils. At the same time, comprehensive qualities and professional development of the teachers will also be improved.In the past two years, we have been constructing complete framework of campus culture and combining school-based curriculum with various kinds of activities, through which we gradually form characteristic curriculum system of mixed age education. And we have also participated in cultivating and practicing mixed age curriculums and have launched school-based mixed aged subjects and mixed age activities. In the research and practice, we have tried out school-based curriculum activities, opening up information and resources activities, mixed age large calisthenics, mixed age sports games, parent-children activities and mixed age moral education. All of these promote mutual aid, cooperation and the ability to communicate of the pupils and therefore boost the all-round, healthy and harmonious development of our school.Action study in addition to literature study and questionnaire as accessory is adopted in the full paper. The whole text consists of six sections:section one is preface; section two is the purpose and sense of carrying out characteristic curriculum of mixed age education; section three is the construction of characteristic curriculum mixed age education, the action study process and examples of the curriculum; section four is implementation of characteristic curriculum of mixed age education, in which I will explain in detail the process of the curriculum and management; section five will analyse the effectiveness of the carrying out the curriculum; section six is the findings of research and conclusion, with the purpose of give valuable advice for the promote and fulfilling the characteristic curriculum of mixed age education.
