Students who have just entered a junior high school are experiencing lots of changes, such as the campus environment, more subjects, harder courses and heavier burden. Most of the students are in adolescence. With the rapid development of the body, they think more actively, have more sense of themselves and eager to be independent. Because of the physiological maturation, their sexual consciousness are sprouting and developing. Actually they begin to be curious about the opposite sex. All of these have an important influence on them. Therefore, more attention must be paid to the interpersonal relationship of the freshmen. How to intervene and improve the situation is worth studying. In the beginning, I did a survey on the interpersonal relationship of the junior high school through <Interpersonal relationships assessment scale>. I also analysis the actual state of the interpersonal relationship when they enter school for the first three months, which include the problems in communicating and how to talk with the opposite sex friends. Then summarize the actual state of the interpersonal relationship of the freshmen. After the survey, I designed a program called group counseling intervention. I did eight interventions for one group, while the other group did nothing special. After counseling, we tested the two groups again, then compared and analysis the data. Besides, I did a study on the intervention group about< A self rating survey on participate in group counseling to improve the interpersonal relationship>. By interviewing the intervention group students, teachers and parents, I try to find out how the counseling intervention affect the students. As a result, I can give a series of reasonable and feasible suggestions to the school. The results showed that:(1) From the four dimensions of interpersonal relations, the students have the most difficulty in dating and communication. The second one is talking skills and heterosexual contacts and the least one is how to treat people and accept things.(2) According to the research and analysis on population variables, the gender, family structure and family atmospheres have a great difference on the terms of heterosexual contacts. The one-child influences little, even less than those families who have more than one child. Top students and poor students are extremely different. Students from rich families are quite different from those from poor ones.(3) Group counseling intervention can alleviate the pressure of the interpersonal relationships. It can also adjust the state of depression and anxiety which is cause by the unprepared interpersonal relationship. Group counseling intervention can make them relax and enjoy the life of the junior high school. It still can enhance their sense of belonging, a sense of security and trust. Improve the level of their mental health and help them to establish a good interpersonal relationship in a positive attitude.
