Since 2002 our country starts elementary school English curriculum comprehensively, English language learning has been paid more and more attentions by the education professors and the society. The number of Migrant children has increased in large quantities year by year, and now the Migrant children occupy the main part of the students in J Primary School. They mostly lack of early education, live in a complex language surrounding, often change their language codes during the communication with others. They also have to be confronted with the obstacles from family cultural capital and system of education. According to those obstacles mentioned above, it is worried about the present situation of the Migrant children’s English learning. Taking English curriculum rationale as the instruction and Sociology of education, Linguistics as the foundation, this research studies the obstacles in Migrant children’s English learning in elementary school by using interviewing method, classroom observation, and questionnaire investigation and so on, the Migrant children in J primary school as the research object. It discusses the reasons for producing the obstacles and proposes some countermeasures, in order to improve the present situation of the Migrant children’s English language learning, and change the weak position in the education.This paper involves the introduction and three parts, the main contents of each part as follows:The first part is the introduction which narrates the background of research, current situation in domestic and foreign research, the value of research, and research method. The second part is the analysis of present situation of Migrant children’s English learning, the existing problems, such as the distance between the curriculum standards and the students’ability levels, opportunities missed in the process of education and phonetic notations in different ways on students’book. The third part is the diagnosis of the obstacles of Migrant children’s English language learning, finding that the Migrant children face to a complex language surrounding, often change their codes. They use limited code, hard to adapt to the delicate code schools use after they enter the urban elementary school. As lack of family cultural capital, they are in the weak position in the school educations. The fourth part is the last part of the paper, in which the author proposes some countermeasures, such as the measures to promote the education fair, to stable entrance system, to provide compensatory education, to enhance the quality of parents, to adapt to the linguistic form of Migrant children for teachers, etc.
