The New Deal created normal school as one of the focuses of the national education reform for the first time at the end of Qing Dynasty. Based on this background, setting up modern China’s first public normal school, Jiangsu was one of the earliest regions developing Chinese modern normal education. However, at that time, what the big problem that all levels of school in Jiangsu were facing was the lack of teachers. Nevertheless, the introduction of Japanese teaching in Jiangsu at the end of Qing Dynasty played a considerable role in terms of the creation and development of the early modern normal education in Jiangsu. At that time, the distribution of Japanese teaching in Jiangsu was the most except ZhiLiSheng and Beijing areas, and more than half of Japanese teaching in Jiangsu was in normal schools at various levels. The period of 1901-1911 when Japanese teaching was in China was the pioneer days of China’s modern normal education. At that time, the equipment was simple and crude, environment was poor, it was nowhere and teachers were scarce. So Japanese teaching made a certain contribution to the development of normal education in Jiangsu at the end of Qing Dynasty. In this context, the role of the Japanese teachers and advisers coming to Jiangsu normal school in the late of Qing Dynasty, who promoted the modernization development of normal education in Jiangsu, cannot be ignored. Especially famous Japanese teaching Qian Jiro Kikuchi, Kojiro Matsumoto, Toyohachi Fujita in Jiangsu made outstanding contributions, such as being involved in the creation and management of the new school, introducing advanced teaching methods, enriching teacher, training courses, etc. On the other hand, the Japanese teaching also brought some negative influence in the development of Jiangsu’s normal education. Finally, the Japanese teaching declined because of all aspects of factors. The actual analysis of the texts consists of four steps.First, I want to analyze the reason of the numbers of Japanese teachers came to Jiangsu, general situation and all levels of the Chinese attitude towards Japanese teachers in China at the end of Qing Dynasty. Second,I need to use the famous Japanese teachers and Jiangsu normal school at the end of Qing Dynasty as a case to deeply analyze the inner links between the Japanese teachers in Jiangsu and the development of Jiangsu’s normal education, including Qian Jiro Kikuchi and the normal school of Sanjiang,Kojiro Matsumoto and the normal school of Liangjiang, and Toyohachi Fujita of (Suzhou) the normal school of Jiangsu. Then,I want to focus on analysis of Japanese teachers brought positive influence and negative influence to about the development of normal education in Jiangsu at the end of Qing Dynasty. Finally, I will make a deep analysis about the recession of the Japanese teachers at the end of Qing Dynasty in Jiangsu.
