The sports is an important component of education, and good physical education is ansignificant condition to cultivate morally, intellectually and physically developed moderntalents. In the context of educational reform in our country, the teacher as an educator, willdirectly affects whether the educational reform policies can be effectively carried out andimplemented, and his professional level could also directly affect the teaching quality. Therefore,the teacher is not only the driving force but also the retarding factor of educational reform, whichcompletely depends on the teacher’s accomplishment.The college sports professional teachers, as a special group in sports teachers, not onlyshould cultivate the students’good exercise spirits and habits so as to promote students’all-rounddevelopment, but also shoulders the responsibility of training and educating P.E. teachersof primary and middle schools. And their educational thoughts, methods and ideas will indirectlyaffect the future education of primary and secondary school physical education curriculum in ourcountry. As a result, the professional development of the college sports professional teachers isof great importance.The problem of teachers’ professionalization has drawn extensive attention at home andabroad. The paper selects this special group “the college sports professional teachers” as theresearch object and makes comparative analysis on the different teaching age, different educationand different titles of the teachers in ten University such as the Shandong Normal University,University of Jinan, Weifang University, Binzhou University, Qufu Normal University and so on.Investigations are also made on development of the college sports professional teachers inshandong province currently. Then the paper analyzes and summarizes from many aspects suchas the professional conception and the professional technology in order to find the problemsexisted in the professional development, so as to find out reasonable strategies to better promotethe professional development of the PE teachers.The paper mainly uses the survey method, literature material method and mathematicalstatistics method to carry on the investigation on the aspects of professional ideas, knowledge,skills, tastes cultivation, curriculum evaluation and so on.The Results indicate that:(1) The education consciousness and the education thoughts of the college sportsprofessional teachers are commonly good. However, there are still problems such as lackinginnovations, old teaching idea, unenlightened teaching method and so on. And the excellentteaching idea has not yet combined with teaching practice, all of which restrict the teacher’sprofessional development. (2)The college sports professional teachers have a good command of professionalknowledge and skills. However, in the actual teaching process, the phenomenon“emphasizing teaching and devaluing education” is still severe. The attention paid to students’ideological situation and psychological problems is not sufficient and the relationship betweenteachers and students needs to be improved.And the understanding of "training teachers’teachers" is not thorough enough.(3)The support from schools and society for the college sports professional teachers needs tobe improved, and the problems such as low social status of PE teachers, single evaluation wayfor teachers and the low benefits of teachers need to be solved.(4)The concrete implementation strategies of teachers’professional development areclearing the direction of professional development, continuing education, self-improvement andperfecting the construction of the related systems.
