Middle distance race belong to the physical fitness, high speed periodic endurance events, physical fitness is an important factor to decide the competitive level of athletes. Along with the national middle distance race team of scientific training idea unceasing advancement, more clearly in the project law of winning and winning factors of cognition, study on the physical training of middle and long distance runners is particularly important. Therefore, in this paper, using the method of literature, mathematical statistics, interviews and other research methods, with the team prepare for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games women’s middle and long distance running as the research object, to prepare for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games cycle characteristics of physical training are summarized and concluded, and reached the following conclusions:1.Special physical training methods of the middle long distance running project is mainly composed of continuous training, high intensity and large amount of exercise training, strengthening the intermittent maximal aerobic metabolism ability of VO2max training, fartleks and altitude training component.2.Continuous training and fartleks is the basis of the movement, and interval training and maximal oxygen uptake intensity training, altitude training is transported long distance movement advanced and strengthening, two must be coordinated development in training, are indispensable.3.In the absolute motion load under the same physiological stimulation, for athletes in plateau environment are larger than the plain, therefore, altitude training in preparation for the world series before the specific physical enhancement is very necessary.4.Compared with the long distance runners and foreign top athletes of Chinese elite women, significant differences in physiological and biochemical index data is not innate, but acquired index contrast there is a big gap. Explanation on the special training method has to be improved.
