Objective:To provide a basis for promoting their physical exercise behavior from training and inspiring students’ physical exercise motivation. The present study aims to explore the relationship between College Students’ physical exercise motivation and their exercise behavior. Methods:With the method of stratified simple random sampling, we selected 1200 Yangzhou University college students from grade one to grade four as the research object, and applied the demographic variables table, physical activity rating scale and exercise motivation survey questionnaire to them for the investigation and analysis. Results:There are significant differences in gender and region for college students’ physical exercise behavior and exercise motivation. Specifically, the physical exercise habit of the male college students is better than that of female students, while female students show better performance on the dimension of identified regulation and external regulation. But when comes to the dimension of intrinsic regulation, Introjected regulation and non-motivation, they show weaker performance compared with male students. Rural area students’physical exercise habit is better than that of students from cities, rural college students are better on the external regulation dimensions than urban students; College students’ exercise behavior and physical exercise motivation do not show any significant differences in the only child or not, family type, major, health condition; Male and female college students’ physical exercise motivation and physical exercise behavior share a high correlation, of which, the exercise frequency, exercise intensity and identified regulation exhibit the highest relevance, female college students’ exercise duration relevant the most with the internal motivation, besides, their exercise intensity relevant the most with their identified regulation. All in all, identity regulation motivation can predict college students’ physical exercise frequency; the region category can predict male college students exercise frequency and exercise duration; internal motivation can predict college students’ exercise duration; Introjected regulation can predicted female college students’exercise intensity; and the sports motivation do not present any prediction to male college students’ exercise behaviors.Conclusion:1. There are differences in gender and students regions for college students’ exercise behavior and physical exercise motivation; 2.Significant correlation is existed within college students’ physical exercise motivation and physical exercise behavior:on the one hand, as for the male college students, their Introjected regulation motivation can predict exercise frequency, internal motivation can predict exercise duration; on the other hand, when comes to female college students, their Introjected regulation motivation can predict exercise frequency, internal motivation can predict exercise duration, and identified regulation can predict exercise intensity.
