| With the increasing social concern about early reading education, reading environment of kindergarten, the main place for infants’ early reading, is getting more and more attention. Therefore, the quality of kindergarten’s reading environment will show great influence on children’s early reading education.Then, here are some questions:how is kindergarten reading environment currently created? Is there any problems need to be resolved? In order to explore the above issues, this study selected 14 different levels of kindergarten in Nanjing, took several pictures of kindergarten reading environment, collected the related data through case study method and observational method and interviewed 9 teachers and 27 infants from the chosen one kindergarten on the top of reading education and two of the multiple from the 14 kindergartens. According to Eden Chamber’s division of reading environment, this study evaluated the current situation of reading environment from two aspects: physical environment and psychological environment, to explore the influencing factors and put forward some proposals to solve the problems.The study shows that there are achievements which should be appreciated in the creation of reading environment. In the material part of reading environment, most kindergartens take degree of lighting, quiet degrees, area and other aspects into consideration, which will provide proper reading environment for chidren.In the aspects of reading material’s location and equipments of reading infrastructure, teachers have generally realized to base on the characteristics of children’s age and make them more varied in function. While, in the aspect of the arrangement of space environment, they make it rich in content and divide it into different age stages. In the psychology part of reading environment, through colors and music, teachers make the reading area a comfortable place for children to read. Through rules and communications among partners, teachers make the freedom in an acceptable range. Decorations full of childlike were used to stimulate the reading interests of children. There are also various reading activities in the kindergartens.However, some problems still exist in today’s reading environment. In the material part of reading environment, the location of reading area is not ideal enough in few classes, they can’t do well both in lighting and quietness. Reading material were not put in order promptly. Obsolete reading infrastructure were not updated in time. In the psychology part of reading environment creation, reading extension activities were always combined with painting and acting areas and less combined with other areas, the activity form is relatively single.The research has concluded the factors that affect the kindergarten’s reading environment:teacher’s understanding of reading environment and the significance of it is inadequate; Teachers energy division is unscientific; funds investment of kindergarten is insufficient and the system rules are not clear enough.Finally,the thesis puts forward some suggestions for kindergartens and teachers to help them improve the abilities of reading environment creation. Here are the Suggestions:l.to improve teachers’ attention and the comprehensive understanding of the reading environment; 2. teachers should pay attention to reasonable energy division; 3. to pay attention to the reading materials and infrastructure management and maintenance in time; 4. to pay attention to reading activities in the form of diversification. |
