In the 1990s, Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences has become an important guiding ideology of education reform in many western countries. Now, the theory has a more profound impact on the reform of global education. Due to regional and comprehensive features of geography, geography teaching provides all-round materials for the development of students’ multiple intelligences. But in reality, every student is unique, so teachers can design different homework according to different teaching objects, thus giving full play to the advantages of intelligent factors and achieving the best educational results.Through documentary research, the author has got to know the present situation of research on the theory of multiple intelligences and homework design home and abroad. Besides, by carrying out questionnaires, the author has done some research about how well geography teachers know about Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences and the current situation of the development of students’ multiple intelligences in homework. She has found high school geography teachers are not fully aware of the importance of developing multiple intelligences and that their awareness of developing multiple intelligences in homework needs to be strengthened. The development now lacks comprehensiveness and diversification as well.According to the existing situation of high school geography homework and the drawbacks of the development of multiple intelligences in China, by learning from workmates and combining documents and her own teaching experience, the author has concluded that homework design must follow six principles:the principle of science, the principle of differences, the principle of openness, the principle of fun, the principle of life and the principle of typicality. What’s more, the author has put forward design plans respectively from 8 aspects----linguistic intelligence, logical- mathematical intelligence, spatial intelligence, bodily kinesthetic intelligence, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, self-awareness of cognitive intelligence and natural intelligence, interspersed related cases in each plan, and summarized what should be paid attention to.This study is of great importance for enriching high school geography school-based homework resources, helping teachers design effective geography homework, and developing students’multiple intelligences...
