People communicate with each other by language. The ability of language is developed while communicating. There has been consistent enthusiasm on the study of language, children’s language in particular, and the results have proved quite fruitful. Lots of researches show that the development of children’s language ability is affected by many factors; In recent years, more attention has been put on the effect of reading to the development of children’s language ability. By consulting the documents and materials in and abroad, we will find that the range of the research is mainly about the relationship between reading and children’s language in the early stage. Some researches are about the parent-child shared-book reading, but there are not too many. The purpose of the research is to test out the relationship between the language ability among children aged from 3 to 4 and the parent-child shared-book reading when children are little in the family. The relationship is obvious. It is showed that children at this age can understand some pictures, some common senses, the phonetic sound and vocabulary, which is clearly related to the parent-child shared-book reading when children are little. On the verification of the relationships, influence of gender on the language ability of those aged 3 or 4 is not very notable. The result of the research will enrich children’s language development theory. It can offer the Parents some educational practice from a theoretical view as well. The main methods in the research are testing and questionnaire. Altogether 131 children, who entered the kindergartens in autumn at the age of 3 or 4, will be randomly selected from two local kindergartens at first, and later they will receive the language ability test. WPPSI-IV(CN)、PPVT and tools for testing phonetic sound will be used. Meanwhile, questionnaires about ’investigation of current parent-child reading’ will be handed out to the families to test the current situation. Having finished collecting the data, I will analyze the children’s language level and the relationship from the parent-child reading by using SPSS 19.0 to describe the statistical analysis, the T-test, Pearson Correlation Analysis, and regression analysis. The relative research, which is between parent-child shared-book reading during an early period and children’s reading ability at the age of 3 to 4, has a conclusion that the two are closely related. For the recognition of pictures, children’s language ability is clearly related to the language they used, the amount of the articles, the reading frequency, the reading time and the times of communication while reading. For the common sense, it is obviously associated with the amount of the articles, the reading frequency and the times of communication while reading. For the phonetic sound, it is distinctly relevant to the reading frequency. For vocabulary, It is directly connected with the language they used, the amount of the articles and the reading frequency. For those 3 or 4 years of age, there is very little difference in the level of children’s language ability. With the data collected through Pearson Correlation Analysis, and by adopting regression analysis, this paper reaches the conclusion:children’s language ability is obviously associated with the reading frequency, the amount of the articles and the language they used.
